Using online video to promote a launch

Using outrageous online video to promote your business

When Andy Jenkins wanted to promote the product improvements in his online traffic and conversion training system called StomperNet, he decided to use a powerful new online tool - online video.

As a marketing professional, you're probably already aware that:

- Video is huge - YouTube is one of the top 3 sites in the world!

- Tons of people are accessing it - over 63% of those with broadband in the US are watching online videos, which has increased 18% over the past year

So how do you get your story seen in online video? One way is to add entertainment to your message, which is precisely what Andy chose to do.

I recommend you watch this video on SEO and online traffic building to see what I mean. It's clearly a spoof, but it's generating a ton of buzz online. Plus, he's also added another interactive tool on the page, to further involve the viewers.

Not badly done!

New Program Simplifies Online Advertising

Those of you who have been in contact with me for awhile know that I'm a huge fan of pay per click marketing. It's one of the greatest marketing tools currently available to generate huge numbers of targeted potential buyers to your webpage or online sales letter.

One of the keys to success in pay per click marketing is running your ads on thousands, and in many cases, tens of thousands of keywords.

This strategy not only results in less expensive click traffic, but higher quality customers at the same time, because those who search for more specific keyword combinations tend to be farther along in the buying process than those who search for the generic term that describes the category.

Though this is a powerful, results-generating strategy, it comes at a huge price - the time required to sort though huge lists of keywords, culling out those that don't apply, and putting them into logical ad groups for keyword advertising.

Frankly, to do this process right costs between 5-10 hours of mind-numbingly frustrating work. Seriously, you can't hand-process keyword lists for more than about 20 minutes before your eyes start crossing and every line starts to look about the same.

As a manager of a number of high-powered, huge, expensive campaigns, I've done my time, spending far too many late nights slogging through yet another list.

If you've ever done it, you know exactly what I'm talking about...

So, you can imagine my excitement about two months ago as I talked for the first time with a guy I met on a pay per click teleconference named Richard East.

In that phone call Richard told me about a new program his team was creating that was designed specifically to handle the challenge of sorting through huge groups of keywords for pay per click and/or page-building programs.

I twisted his arm into sending me a copy, and was blown away. I was just starting the process of sorting through a 35,000 keyword project. Instead of doing it by hand, I ran it through Richard's program, and completed the entire keyword project, including culling out inappropriate terms, sorting the remaining terms into logical ad groups, and creating negative keyword lists in a grand total of...

(No, not the 10 hours of drudgery I had planned,)

20 minutes.

Yes, less than half an hour.

I instantly became a raving fan.

Then I went to the next step and started the task of writing ad copy for each ad group. I usually budget another 3-4 hours to do that process correctly, researching competitive ads, finding hot terms, and developing 2-3 test ads per ad group.

Again, Richard's program did much of the work for me, allowing me to complete that portion of the job in a fraction of the time.

I was in love! With a computer program. Scary thought! :<)

I'm so excited about this program that I have since worked directly with Richard and his team, making programming suggestions to turn it from a powerful tool into an ultra- powerful keyword processing monster, and even producing one of the audios he's using as a bonus.

Let's put it this way. I own literally every keyword research and processing tool on the market. And like you, most of them sit unused on my hard drive.

This program, Keyword Companion, gets used, constantly.

I can't think of a program that's done more to save me hours, frustration, and the few hairs I have on my head.

And I promise you, you will be too, whether you're a person who manages a single campaign or hundreds.

Can you tell that I'm a huge fan of this program?

Now, I have a confession to make. It's been a terrifically busy week here in my office, and I've blown it. This product was launched last Monday and there are several bonuses that expire by the end of this week, including a price increase. So, my gushing has peaked your interest in any way, I strongly suggest you check it out immediately, while you've still got a chance to get all the good stuff. Sorry about the rush... my fault.

Check it out!

Watch the videos. They'll show you what I mean. Pick up your own copy, and it won't be long before you too are in love...

With a computer program!

Getting Publicity For Alternative Product Uses

I'll never forget the day that someone taught me the exploding balloon trick.

Now this can be dangerous because it involves a caustic substance and fire. Consider yourself warned.

Basically, you put a couple of inches of water in a glass pop bottle (note the word "glass"), add a quarter cup or so of lye, crumple up a piece of aluminum foil and drop it in. Then take a large balloon and carefully fit it over the mouth of the pop bottle.

Over the next 20 minutes or so, the balloon should fill up with the gas generated by the mix. When full nigh to bursting, take the balloon off, and close it off with a clothespin. It should not only float in the air but rise. If it doesn't, stick another piece of tinfoil in the bottle and put it back onto the bottle to fill some more.

If it does rise, tie it closed, and add a 3 foot long fuse made of toilet paper by taping one end to the balloon.

You now have the makings of a very effective prank. Our favorite trick was to go upwind from a campfire surrounded by young impressionable girls (teenagers are so stupid sometimes, I was definitely one of them!), light the fuse, and set it aloft (making sure there was nothing between us and the campfire that would catch fire from the burning fuse). If the fuse was measured correctly, the balloon would erupt into a ball of flames over the campfire, just after you were able to sneak back into the group.

It was always good for a 20 minutes of laughter.

Then there was the time that I did the demonstration (with his permission by the way), over my science teacher's desk; the resulting burst setting his grade book on fire. I went home that night with a very sore rear end, him having broken his paddle on my posterior. (My community was late in prohibiting corporal punishment - my bony rear end actually was the cause of splitting two separate science teacher's paddles, and I was a *good* kid!)

There are many products out there that have an alternative use, one for which it is probably not designed.

Don't think your product has any? Talk to the folks in the factory, you may be very surprised.

Why am I talking about these pranks in a publicity newsletter?

Because the popularity of funny videos on the Internet has turned simple teenage pranks into a great opportunity to actually increase your publicity and sales.

Consider the favorite Mentos and Diet Coke trick. Stick several Mentos into a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke, (I suggest you do this outside...) and you'll get a 3-5 second geyser of Diet Coke erupting into the air.

This experiment has suddenly taken on a whole new life with a very entertaining video done by EepyBird.com, which you can see at http://eepybird.com/dcm1.html or here:

They took 101 bottles of Diet Coke, combined them with 523 Mentos, and created a short video. Seriously, if have broadband, and you're at all interested in publicity and the power of viral marketing, I recommend you check it out.

You'll probably show it to your kids too, just like I did.

So what's the net publicity effect of something like this?

To Diet Coke, not much at all. In fact, they have such a huge business that Coke probably doesn't even care.

But to Mentos, this may be a totally different story. This publicity is just the kind of thing that will cause tens of thousands of teens, college students and crazy fathers like me to pick up a few packages (cases) and create our own little Bellagio-like displays in backyards worldwide.

An entertaining online video can create a few extra points of market share and a few hundred thousand in sales.

Trust me, these things get attention. A quick search on Technorati shows that 1621 people have linked into this site, 20 in the last 3 hours; 120 people have tagged it in del.icio.us, and there are a bunch of tags on Digg.com. Yes, people notice, write about it, and send traffic to sites with entertaining videos?

Is there something you could do to create a crazy video using your product?

What other viral techniques can you use to create underground publicity for your product

How to Build Your Business Online

As we have gotten feedback from our over 3400 readers, we have come to realize that most of you wear several different hats. Not only are you the PR expert, but you're usually involved in marketing, and often in the top management of your company. Because of that, we will ocassionally pass along resources that may not be directly related to the PR part of your job, but do have to do with other aspects of your job.

One key area where all of us need to focus is in maximizing our presence on the internet.

So, if you want to...

1. Supplement your company's existing income with THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF ADDITIONAL REVENUE every month

Or

2. Start your own lucrative Internet business selling IN-DEMAND PRODUCTS YOU CREATE

... then please continue reading this article.

When I was trying to get my Internet business off the ground, I did a ton of research and looked around for information all over the 'Net that would really help me get started. And I found hardly ANYTHING!

Most of the stuff out there is a bunch of useless theory, ideas, and opinions that haven't even been tried by the people who are writing about them.

Needless to say, I was getting pretty discouraged... and then I finally found EXACTLY what I needed!

After sifting through literally hundreds of so-called Internet marketing experts and get-rich-quick schemes, I came across a fellow by the name of Corey Rudl just over five years ago now. I have been SHOCKED by the HUNDREDS OF CUTTING-EDGE STRATEGIES HE'S EXPOSED ME TO -- and just how effective they really are!

I'm telling you, this guy is amazing. He's a young guy who loves the Internet and is so excited by what he can do on it that he keeps coming up with new stuff all the time, so he's always developing new techniques and staying on the cutting edge. I guess that's why he's...

EARNING OVER $5.2 MILLION IN SALES AND ATTRACTING MORE THAN 6 MILLION VISITORS EVERY YEAR

... all from one small office!

And Corey tells you step-by-step exactly how he's doing it, including each strategy and technique that he has PERSONALLY DEVELOPED and PROVEN TO BE ENORMOUSLY PROFITABLE!

The hundreds of e-business start-ups who have failed have probably made us all a little skeptical -- and the dot-com crash that the online world is still recovering from definitely made me want to know for sure that I could trust the person I was learning from.

But the thing is, the techniques that Corey teaches are the SAME ONES HE USED TO BECOME SO SUCCESSFUL... and he even MADE MONEY during the lowest point of the dot-com crash!

And I know that's why Corey's course, "Insider Secrets To Marketing Your Business On The Internet," became the #1 BEST- SELLING INTERNET MARKETING COURSE as soon as people could get their hands on it...

Because as soon as they discovered Corey's secrets, they started making money too -- just like I did!

And the best part is that you can have a full-time business or an after-work hobby that is GUARANTEED TO BE PROFITABLE once you implement Corey's strategies.

When I got the course I was stunned to see how big the two massive binders are -- and they came with additional CDs and extras. There's over a thousand pages of all the secrets of Internet Marketing coming from the guru of online marketing -- don't forget, these are the same secrets that are making Corey OVER $5.2 MILLION IN SALES!

And he starts with the basics. You don't have to be an Internet wizard to follow his techniques -- and you don't have to have an MBA, either (Corey doesn't!).

But if you are an expert, you'll love the unconventional tricks that Corey exposes you to -- you won't have heard about them anywhere else. This guy is so far ahead of the game that he makes his competition look like they're not even sure what the game is.

He'll expose you to every single strategy and technique that you must know if you want to START, BUILD, AND GROW A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET, from the ground up, including...

1. Web page promotion and design (even for complete newbies!)

2. Getting RANKED AT THE TOP of search engines

3. Turning leads into LIFETIME CUSTOMERS with e-mail marketing

4. Building a RESPONSIVE OPT-IN E-MAIL LIST -- fast!

5. Exploiting AOL and other online services

6. Free and low-cost online classified ads that produce sales

7. DOMINATING YOUR MARKET with affiliate/reseller/associate programs

8. Newsgroup promotions

9. SNOWBALLING YOUR PROFITS with autoresponders

10. How and when to promote yourself on bulletin boards

11. Getting LINKS FROM HIGH-TRAFFIC SITES

12. Sales strategies

13. Writing KILLER AD COPY

14. Banner ads (tips and tricks)

15. Profiting with discussion lists and newsletters

16. Completely AUTOMATING YOUR BUSINESS

17. Sources of FREE advertising and traffic

... and this is just the tip of the iceberg! This guy goes all out! Corey tells you EVERY unconventional trick he's ever tried, every tip that's worked for him, every technique and strategy you need to become a successful online entrepreneur.

It Won't Do Any Good If Nobody Comes

We have talked about the importance of generating traffic to your website, and how to use Pay Per Click Advertising to do so. (Get more information on Pay Per Click and how it works visit:)

Now let's talk about the other side of generating traffic to your website, the free search engines.

As you're no doubt aware, when people visit a search engine, 70% click on a link from the first page of the search, only 15% click on a link from the second page, and 10% from the third page, with the remaining 5% going beyond that.

So if you're not on the first page or two of search engine results for the keywords that define your business, you're not getting seen. And, what's most interesting, is that once you move from page 2 onto page 1, you'll suddenly see huge increases in your traffic simply from that change (assuming that this occurs with high traffic keywords.)

But here's the challenge - 99.9% of all webmasters are clueless about how to get your site high on the search engines.

Your's probably is too.

They think they know, but they have no idea what really makes the difference.

Here's a hint. Call your webmaster and ask him "what are you doing to get your site highly ranked on the search engines for the keywords I specify."

Then listen very carefully. If at any time during their answer you hear the words "meta tag", fire him.

Immediately.

He's clueless.

You see, most webmasters hold to a belief that this thing called a meta tag (don't worry, you don't need to understand what it means) is the main thing that search engines use to choose who gets on the first page of their results and who doesn't.

And meta tags did work.

For about two months

In 1998.

But not anymore.

Today, there are 60+ things that a search engine looks at to determine who gets ranked on the first page of their results.

Meta tags are virtually dead last in that list, if they make the list at all.

Let me give you a hint. One of the things that's right at the top of the list is the title for each page of your site. Let me show you an example.

Go to http://google.com Search on the term reed switch

See the first link on the list -http://reedswitchdevelopments.com ? That's our client.

Not bad, first spot, for the product they make, on the leading search engine in the world!

As you can imagine, they're getting pretty good results from this site.

Now, look up at the very top line of your web browser, up above your back button - the line that has the little X in the corner that you use to close the program. Now look all the way to the left, where you will see "Reed Switch Developments - your source for high quality magnetic sensor technology solutions"

Notice how we have the two keywords for their category in that line - reed switch and magnetic sensor? That helps in the rankings.

I encourage you to check out your site too, to see how it fares. Vist each of your pages. It's highly likely that your title line will either say "Untitled" or will have the exact same copy on every page. If so, fire your webmaster, he's clueless.

As I mentioned, there are 60+ things that search engines look for in a given page to determine where it ranks. I won't take you through the list right now. But I will re-emphasize how important it is for you to do well in this area.

Now, whenever I write something like this, a number of you write me a note to ask if we do perform this kind of service. We do - and we deliver great results. But we aren't cheap - our minimum project is $15,000 for that kind of results. (We do have a couple of openings for site design/redesign coming up in late January. If you're interested, call me at 262-639-2270 and let's talk.)

But there's another solution that I want to tell you about. It's a really cool program that takes you through most of the processes that we do ourselves, to set your site up to receive great rankings on the search engines. Plus, this process actually allows you, with no programming knowlege required, to create an attractive, powerful website that generates results. If you can type a document in a word processor, you can create a website!

I'm telling you this today, right before the holidays, because they have a deal going on right now that you won't ever be able to get again. They're having a buy one get one free sale that expires December 26, 2003. And best of all, their service is also *very* affordable.

Why in the world would one want to do this - especially since you probably already have a website? And why would anyone want 2 sites?

Consider several alternatives.

1. You replace your current site with one that does much better on the search engines and in selling your products/services.

2. You create a second site that gets high on the search engines, then directs visitors into your current site.

3. You create a site for a sub-portion of your business, focusing on that specific product/service.

4. You use the second site to try another piece of business that you've always thought might be cool.

5. You call your friend and each get a site for half price.

6. They have a cool set of other products, and if you ask really nicely, you can, instead of getting 2 sites, get the equal value of the second site in their other products.

I've taken them up on their offer - and it's really cool!

One of the coolest things about this system is that they can actually show you a whole bunch of successful reports about how their customers have done. To see this, go to Site Build It

I strongly recommend this product - you'll be as thrilled as I am if you buy it, follow the steps outlined in it, and get it done!

How To Get Your Site Seen On The Web

I just got off the phone with one of my Internet marketing friends. I was telling him about how, over the first six months of this year, one of my clients has been able to generate over 30 million website visitors at a total marketing cost of less than $100,000.

Sales totalled over $4 million. And that's not selling one big contract, or selling information products. That's selling real stuff, like you buy in the stores!

Who says money can't be made online!

And that's just one of my clients...

One of the major tools we use to flood a site with tons of interested visitors is pay per click search advertising. Pay per click advertising literally puts your site on the first page of the search engine listings.

Which is exactly where you want to be!

And best of all, you only pay a few cents each time someone clicks on your ad and you don't pay at all if they don't click!

The net result is that you're able to create a steady, predictable, profitable stream of traffic and profits using this powerful tool.

Think about it - over 70% of the subscribers to this list came through pay per click advertising. You're probably one of them.

The only challenge - if you don't do it right, pay per click advertising can cost you...big time. And, since what really works in pay per click is counter-intuitive, in fact, it's exactly the opposite of what your rational mind tells you to do, most people don't do it right.

I've recently finished my new book.
The Pay Per Click Money Machine: The Step By Step Guide To Instant Internet Traffic and Profits.

In it, I tell you exactly what to do to make your website into a money machine using pay per click advertising.

You'll probably learn more about how to generate a ton of web traffic from this book than from almost anything else you've ever read.

How does this relate to you?

If you want to generate tons of profitable visitors to your website, you've got a choice. You can:

1. Lose six months vainly trying to get your site onto the first page of the search engines, then give up and hire someone else to do it for you, which probably also won't work,

2. Try your hand at pay per click marketing, and lose several hundred dollars in the process, or

3. Get this book and do it right the first time.

Which makes more sense to you?

....

One other thing you should know... one of the most powerful things about pay per click advertising is that you can literally start generating a flood of your targeted customers to your site within 90 minutes.

In fact, assuming you've got good selling copy, you can expect to see your first order/request for quote within a couple of hours of putting up a campaign.

Yes. Really.

This book will, plainly put, help you to sell more of anything you want to sell.

Get it. Use it. Make more money.

Pay per click marketing has now moved online traffic generation from a mysterious, frustrating process into a predictable, profitable system of herding your target customer to your site. If you're not using it, you're leaving money on the table...

Guaranteed.

Secrets For Getting Through To The Media Online

Did you ever wonder how Clark Kent got any work done? It seems to me that he spends very little time actually doing any journalism. My only guess is that perhaps the whole city provides plenty of fabulous material for him to use, that he never had to actually write anything.

How To Win The Hunt for Media E-mail Addresses

You're desperate to contact a reporter via e-mail but don't know their e-mail address. Joan Stewart recently interviewed Marcia Yudkin, who knows all the tricks of how to track down media people. Here are 5 tips that she passed along:

- Visit the media outlet's website and look for a directory of staff members. This is often the most accurate listing you'll find anywhere.

- If there's a search function at the website, do a search for the reporter's name. You just might find one of their articles, along with an e-mail address at the end.

- Check the Bacon's Directory, which can found at most major public libraries. Even though the directory might be out of date, the big advantage to Bacon's is that it tells you how a particular reporter or media outlet prefers to be contacted--by phone, fax, snail-mail or e-mail.

- Call the media outlet and ask the operator for the e-mail address of the person you need to contact. If the operator won't provide it, a sneaky way around that problem is to call one of the other departments such as the advertising or circulation department. Tell whoever answers that you misplaced the e-mail address of so-and-so, you just tried calling that person, their line was busy, and you're wondering if they can help you. This, by the way, is an old trick used by reporters looking for information within a certain company.

- Do a search online for the reporter's name. He or she might write for another publication and have an article and e-mail address posted at another website.
